อยากให้ดูที่ notes พวกนี้  และลองเดาความหมายดูว่าหมายความว่าอะไร

dets = details , asap = as soon as possible

Fri = Friday , a.m. = morning (Ante Meridiem)

ext. = extension

fax = facsimile message , no. = number

figs = figuers , ie = that is , Oct = October , Jan = January

docs = documents , e.g. = for example

NB = remember

P.S. = and another thing

Summary  (สรุป)

There are a number of conventional abbreviations in English. These , and contracted verb form are often used in informal notes.

ในภาษาอังกฤษก็มีอักษรย่อที่เป็นที่ยอมรับกันแล้วอยู่เยอะมากๆ อักษรย่อเหล่านี้ และ รูปกิริยาย่อ จะถูกใช้บ่อยใน notes ที่ไม่เป็นทางการ

Punctuation is used to show shortening and abbreviation (full stops, dashes,apostrophes) , but is not essential.

เครื่องหมายวรรคตอน ( . , - , ' )แสดง การย่อ แต่ไม่ใช่องค์ประกอบสำคัญมากนัก

Abbreviations are based on spelling , sound or the first letters of a group of words.

อักษรย่อเนี่ย ต้องขึ้นอยู่กับตัวสะกด เสียง หรือ ตัวอักษรตัวแรกของกลุ่มคำนั้น 

เช่น

facsimile = fax

extention = X

before = B4

estimated time of arrival = eta

Many abbreviations which are useful in everyday notes are originally from Latin.

อักษรย่อหลายตัวซึ่งมีประโยชน์ใน everyday notes มีรากฐานมาจากภาษาละติน นั่นเอง

เวิ๊กๆ มิน่าหล่ะ คำย่อกับคำจริงถึงเขียนไม่เหมือนกันซักกะติ๊ด

NB (nota bene) = remember

e.g. (exampli gratia) = for example

a.m. (ante meridiem) = before noon = morning

p.m. (post meridiem) = after noon = afternoon

i.e. (id est) = that is

P.S. (postscriptum) = after writing

etc. (et cetera) = and the other

** A good dictionary will often list the accepted abbreviations of common words.

อย่าลืมนะ่ว่า ถ้าเจอคำย่ออื่นๆอีก ให้เปิดดูที่ ดิกชันนารี

ดิกชันนารีที่ดีจะต้องบอกคำย่อที่ได้มาตรฐานโดยทั่วไปด้วย
