story & tale

story (n.) หมายถึง นิทาน ซึ่งเป็นเรื่องราวที่อาจเป็นจริงหรือไม่จริงก็ได้ หรือ อาจจะเป็นเรื่องเกี่ยวกับประวัติความเป็นมา

- He likes to tell story about war.

- The children like story about fighting.

tale (n.) หมายถึง นิทาน ซึ่งเป็นนิทานที่จินตนาการขึ้นมา

- Cinderella is the tale which the children like very much.

- Snow White is a tale which I like.

door & gate

door (n.) หมายถึง ประตู เป็นประตูบ้าน หรือประตูในสถานที่ต่างๆ

- His house door is very wide.

- Please open the door quietly.

gate (n.) หมายถึง ประตู เป็นประตูนอกสถานที่ , ประตูรั้ว , ประตูกำแพง

- The gate of the Siam Park is big and strong.

- He jumped over the gate into the field.

cold & cool

cold (adj.) หมายถึง หนาว หนาวมาก หนาวยะเยือก

- Now , Nongkhai  is very cold.

- The winter in Europe is cold.

cool (adj.) หมายถึง หนาวเย็น เย็นแบบสบายๆ แต่ไม่เย็นเท่า cold

- The coffee is not cool enough to drink.

- There are hot and cool water in every bathroom.

advice & suggestion

advice (n.) หมายถึง คำแนะนำ เป็นคำแนะนำโดยผู้มีความรู้แนะนำ

- The patient must follow the doctor's advice.

- If you take my advice, you will pass the examination.

suggestion (n.) หมายถึง คำแนะนำ เป็นคำแนะนำชักจูกให้ผู้อื่นทำในสิ่งที่ตนต้องการให้ทำ

- He will think about his teacher's suggestion when he does his homework.

weather & air

weather (n.) หมายถึง อากาศ เป็นอากาศใจช่วงเวลาหนึ่งๆ

- We should not go out because of the bad weather.

- I don't like the weather in the winter.

air (n.) หมายถึง อากาศ เป็นอากาศที่เราหายใจ , อากาศที่อยู่รอบตัวเรา , อากาศโดยทั่วๆไป รวมไปถึงพวกก๊าซต่างๆ เช่น ก๊าซออกซิเจน

- We should go out and have some fresh air.

- Oxygen is the air we breath.

high & tall

high (adj.) หมายถึง สูง ใช้กับสิ่งของ ,อาคาร , บ้านเรื่อน , เป็นความสูงที่วัดจากล่างขึ้นบน และยังใช้กับฐานะของบุคคล หรือ ความรุนแรง

- This building is high.

- He is high rank officer.

tall (adj.) หมายถึง สูง โดยมากใช้กับคน

- Siriporn is as tall as me.

- Sompong is 180 centimetres tall.

elder & older

elder (adj.) หมายถึง แก่กว่า ใช้กับบุคคลเท่านั้น และต้องเป็นบุคคลในครอบครัวเดียวกัน

- My father is elder than my mother for five years.

- My elder brother is in Bangkok.

older (adj.) หมายถึง แก่กว่า ใช้ได้ทั่วไป

- Steven looks younger than her friend ,but actually she is older than her friend.

degree & class & grade

degree (n.) หมายถึง ชั้นเรียน , ชั้น , ใช้กับการศึกษาระดับปริญญา

- I worked for my Bachelor's degree.

- I intend to continue my study in the degree of Master of Arts.

class (n.) หมายถึง ชั้นเรียน , จำพวก

- There are thirty five students in his class.

- Somporn was so tired that she fell asleep in class.

grade (n.) หมายถึง ชั้นเรียน , ส่วนมากมักใช้กับระดับคะแนน

- She gets high grade in this semester.

- He has passed the examination to go on the next grade.
